Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment (CELA)

Opened after a renovation in August of 2015, CELA has three Clinical Skills Labs with 10 exam rooms in each lab. Each lab has eight outpatient exam rooms and two large simulation training rooms. The space was designed for integrated learning experiences that align with the Medical School's curriculum. There are two control rooms for monitoring and recording activities occurring in the space.

CELA is structured to provide Standardized Patient and simulation educational exercises and assessments for our medical students:

  • 30 state-of-the art patient examination rooms complete with exam tables, sinks, desks, and physical exam equipment

  • Dual High-definition digital cameras, microphone, and an intercom system in each room

  • Wireless technology for student assessment purposes

  • Three large classrooms for introducing clinical exercises and debriefing experiences, with retractable walls between each to separate and/or combine as needed

  • Three Evaluation/Observation/Training (E/O/T) rooms, equipped with laptops to allow for live viewing/observation, evaluations and group training
